So, the group began discussing how we can make our ‘core idea’, more about design and less about our personal issues. We still want that to be a part of it but the focus really needs to be on the design to meet the brief. We wanted to focus on the struggles that not just designers but, artists on a whole deal with everyday for example, stigma, and expectations (family, tutors, society and future employers), etc. And how all of these contribute towards the dreaded creative block.
As for the branding, we wanted the visuals to represent the feelings that come along with the ‘creative block’. We wanted it to be an organised chaos, so the imagery is messy but, the type is still readable. Black and white is a chosen colour scheme, we wanted to maintain a consistent set of deliverables. the fact that as artists and designers we are generally colourful so it is ironic it being monochromatic. It also depicts the void of the creative block and also how society has its opinions of artists and designers and it is not necessarily the right one. We also discussed potential slogans for the podcast like “Creativity is not always black and white”, but we are leaving it open because we might think of more later on after we have made some visuals.
