GIF DEVELOPMENT

Olivia and I had agreed that we should make some simple animations for the instagram so that the recipe pages would not look boring with only texts on them. This is to make it more interesting to look at without having people clicking into each posts and read a long passage on how to make the food.

Made a mockup GIF with the ingredients of making an avocado tomato toast.
ingredients. These GIFs would be posted on the instagram to show people the ingredients in the recipes of making different healthy meals.

STEPS TO MAKE THE GIFS
1. googled cross sections of the ingredients
2. photoshop out the background
3. make the background transparent
4. save it as a PNG file
5. place transparent on illustrator
6. put all the ingredients in an artboard
7. drew the seasonings with the pen tool
8. when the food are chopped into small pieces, they are turned into simple drawings
9. added frames with the food moving

Avocado Tomato Toast (mock-up)
While Olivia was looking for some simple healthy recipes, I created a mock-up to show her how exactly I would like the final outcome to be like. She really liked it and we agreed to make more of these for the instagram.

Found out that the pepper and salt was missing..

FINAL

Bruschetta with Tomato and Basil
The recipe that Olivia found

First attempt
found it really weird if the last few frames were zoomed in with a still image. Making them moving or tilting into different directions would make it look a lot more natural
Second attempt (semi-final)
refined the frames with the last few ones tilted left and right. The result was really good and it would be the final result that would be posted on the instagram account @oneofeverycolour.

But then i realised that sea salt is not supposed to be in the colour of beige... so... I changed the sea salt into greyish blue. And this would be the real final outcome.

Third attempt (final)

Breakfast bell pepper
recipe

First attempt
there was a black border and the GIF does not look good with them

refined the GIF with the border removed and it looked a lot more refined.

Collard Wrap
recipe
First attempt
removed the black border

Roasted purple cabbage

First attempt
FINAL

I had fun making these GIFs. I think that the simple illustrations of the ingredients needed have made the GIFs look more colourful and interesting to look at. Just to make the recipes clearer, the details of the recipes would be posted on the captions of each GIFs. Also, I suggested that we should get everything done before by Friday to that we could work on our design boards on the weekends.
