overall ideas—> 3 possible treatments
- The problem (These insights will inform your idea.)
Who is the positive intervention for?
What we were thinking was that people nowadays are only counting the calories that they intake and tend to ignore about what food exactly they are eating. Therefore, we thought that the intervention would be for everyone.
What problem is it solving?
Stopping people from only caring about the calories they eat, instead of what the food really is.
How will it do good?
- The solution
Take your considerations and turn them into questions.
“What if...”
what if we could make people counting on the colours they eat instead of the calories that they intake?
what if there was a fun and healthy way to have people eating more colours?
- The execution
Take 3 of your preferred solutions and develop an execution for each using a chosen medium.
Consider sketching, collage, rendering, typography, image making, photography, print, or digital techniques. Also consider the scale, material, colour and tone used in your piece to communicate an idea.
In the beginning, we were thinking about making a zine as it was the easiest way to put all of the ideas that we had together. Before the workshop, we had already come up with many ideas and the ideas were going everywhere and we were a bit frustrated as we didn't know how to pull them all together. The ideas were:
1. Making a spinner and have people spin a colour that they will have to eat after playing the spinner game.
2.(what we made for the sandwich board) A poster/ sandwich board that has the quote "STOP EATING BROWN AND WHITE" on it. We made the typeface by tearing the letters on bread and photocopied them. The reason that we chose bread was that bread actually represents brown and white and using bread for the typeface was a way to strengthen the idea behind.
3. Having "COUNTING CALORIES" crossed out into "COUNTING COLOURS". This would be the simplest way to deliver the idea and could easily catch people's attention of it was on a sandwich board/ poster.
4. Designing red toned stickers for junk food/ unhealthy food and green toned stickers for healthy food. This could be an idea for making a zine and have people stick all of the stickers from the food that they bought each week on the last page of the zine. The zine could then act as a tracker for them to track how much healthy and unhealthy food that they ate n a period of time.
5. Having rainbows on a board and have people throw a coin on them. The colour where the coin lies will be the colour that they will have to eat after playing the game.
6. Having posters of opposite coloured fruits. (yellow grapes, purple lemons), we could paint on real food.
As we had come up with too many different ideas, we were planning to make zine to put them all together and a zine would be effective for the stickers idea that we likes a lot. We will have the spinner on the cover and the posters inside. However, after a quick chat with Simon, it was suggested that the zine idea would not be really effective to really get people going to shops and buy healthy food. Therefore, we were suggested to something like a stickers that will have an interaction with consumers, so as to get people really get to buy more colours and eat more colours.
ideas:
- shop
- booth
- stickers
- spinner
- zine

INSTRAGRAM POST 1
a simple gif of the quote COUNT COLOURS
- We thought that keeping it simple would be the best way to deliver our message
INSTAGRAM POST 2
a gif of the digitalised bread type - making it into an animation gives people a fun and playful feeling which matches with out theme of using fun ways to get people eat more colours
PLANNING ON WHAT OUR FINAL OUTCOME WILL BE
- posters?
- stickers?
- a shop?
- a booth?
SKETCHES ON THE PLANNED FINAL OUTCOME
we were planning to make a spinner wheel that will be placed in a "sweet stall".
idea: sweets are the opposite of healthy. We thought that using sweet stalls would be a good way to show the contrast. The spinner wheel is to hold sliced colour-coded fruits. There will be a hand pointing at one colour of fruits, people will have to spin the wheel and it will help them to decide on what colour to eat.
SILENT CRIT ON PROPOSAL
- we will try to colorise the bread type gif
- first frame of the 1st post would be added back onto the gif
