SCREENINGS (HARRISON AND WOOD + SLEEP)

Harrison and Wood
The Harrison and Wood screen was really impressing. I really like how they made use of the glass window in our studio to display the screens. They used a large sheet of black paper and cut holes on it to make people look through the holes into the small dark room. They had two people moving two laptops playing the videos inside the dark room. When we look through the holes, there were two screens moving around. It communicates well with the idea of the videos Harrison and Wood which emphasize on the interaction between people and objects.

They also displayed videos and images on the computers in the studio. This makes people walking around the room watching the videos. I like how this idea made people interact with each other as they were watching the videos. People began to talk about the group’s work and discuss on their screenings.

I love the idea of using paper desks as tickets. As there is one video on braking one leg of a desk, the group made use of this idea and folded paper desks as tickets. They will tear off one of its leg when people got into the room.

Sleep
I personally think that this group did well in creating a comfortable atmosphere. They made people gather in a circle and use their own jackets as pillows. They expected audiences to lie down and enjoy the film by looking at the ceiling where they placed a large white cloth and have the film projected on. I bet the cloth is there to act as a blanket so that the whole concept can relate to the film. This is actually a really good idea, however, when it comes to really screening the film on the cloth, it kind of failed as we couldn’t really see it properly.
They also gave out bread before the film starts and water after the film ends. They sort of mentioned about this in their presentation that they are going to give out food and drinks, but they did not tell us what exactly they are going to be. They wanted the audience to be curious about that and feel disappointed when they receive them. They used Krispy Cream boxes to hold the plain breads to make the disappointment stronger. This idea matches with the which they thought is disappointing to watch.
